About Atupele Austin Muluzi

Atupele Austin Muluzi is a seasoned leader with over 20 years of experience in public and private sector governance, serving as President of Malawi's United Democratic Front (UDF) party since 2012.

He has held various high-profile roles, including Member of Parliament (2004–2019), Malawi’s Governor to the World Bank, and leadership positions in multiple government ministries.

Muluzi played a key role in initiatives such as Malawi’s Economic Recovery Plan, the largest land reform program, the biometric national ID rollout, and the 2018 Global Fund replenishment.

He was recognized as one of the 100 Most Reputable Africans in 2025. Holding advanced qualifications in law and economics from UK institutions, he is also the eldest son of Malawi’s first democratically elected President.
